Working aquatic-elephants like Rajan used to be a regular sight in the Andaman Islands, south of India, but this 60-year-old five tonne Asian elephant is the last of his kind. Thanks to the introduction of motor boats and other energy-saving technology, Rajan no longer needs to swim miles between islands to work for his masters, but can now enjoy swimming purely for pleasure. Rajan still swims for ten minutes twice a day, completing about 500 yards before heading back to shore. Brazilian Photographer, Daniel Botelho, 30, travelled to the Andaman Islands in the Indian Ocean after hearing stories of islanders swimming with the giant beasts. He said: “I almost got killed by the elephant during one photo shoot. Suddenly a swell came and took me and the elephant by surprise. I was stuck in the sand because of the crash of the wave. He did his best not to kill me - I felt him rolling on top and away from me.” Picture: Daniel Botelho / Barcroft Media

I love bright colors together, so this post was a real treat! Orange and purple are sweet when paired!

Major ways to make a POP!

  • Flowers! Purple and orange look GREAT together! Always remember that bouquets from the bridal party can double as centerpieces of the main table. It helps on your budget and theming!
  • Favors are a great way to incorporate the two colors. You could do jellies (orange jam and grape jelly, anyone?), candies, or decorate a box with the ribbons.
  • Ombre!! I’m a huge fan of ombre themes and shading. Remember, you don’t have to have all the same color of purple and all the same color of orange; you can have lilac, plum, eggplant, marigold, apricot, and coral!
  • Flip-Flops. I may sound crazy (that happens often) but hear me out! A lot of brides are having flip-flops at their wedding for their guests’ tired feet. So, why not get orange floppers for the men and purple ones for the ladies! That way the theme will literally carry itself through the venue!
  • Orange drinks! Mimosas (no longer just for the morning!), Ku’u Pau, and a Blood Orange Gin Sparkler!
  • Purple drinks! Lamborghini Martini, Purple Cow (add liqueur of your choice and stir well!), and a Blackberry Mint Julep!
